| This week we have the opportunity for a once a year blessing. Judaism teaches that we have a mitzvah to recite a blessing during the month of Nisan (last day is Wednesday) on seeing the first buds of a fruit tree. Last year, Shalhevet and I went to the home of Michael and Debbie Berg who invited me to recite the blessing at their apple tree. The experience was moving and a meaningful way to connect with the Divine presence in the world. This year you have a chance to seize a mitzvah moment. Visit http://fruittrees.citykol.com/ to find out the details of the blessings and the locations of fruit trees across the USA. In our own backyard, Michael and Debbie invite the entire community in the next few days to stop by their apple tree (1906 Bedford Street Apt. 1 - in the back, the aravah (willow tree) is in the front) for an opportunity to maximize the mitzvah moment. Speaking of a Mitzvah Day - Save May 2 and support Strides for Sderot (http://sites.google.com/a/cas-stamford.org/strides/) in the morning and our Annual Dinner (http://sites.google.com/a/cas-stamford.org/annual/) in the evening! Wishing you and your families a Shabbat Shalom
All the best,
Rabbi Daniel Cohen
