Jump for Israel If someone were to ask us in 1948 or 1967 if we would ride in a bike-a-thon for Israel or support the cause, I dare say we would all answer in the affirmative. In those years, we sensed the passion and pride of Israel. This coming week is the 61st anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel. Enthusiasm wanes over time. However, our commitment to her safety and spirit must remain as strong as ever. Although this past week, we celebrated the death of Osama bin Laden, the existential threats to Israel and democratic values endure. Last night, the Stamford Jewish community watched the film Iranium (Click here) which highlighted the challenges faced by Israel and America. This week, the treaty forged between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority creates greater uncertainties for a lasting peace in Israel. However, we are entering a period filled with opportunities for expressions of solidarity. Here are a few: 1. Our generation witnesses the miracles of our homeland every day. Our daily prayers reinforce the gift of the Jewish people's return. May our spirits stay high and may we be blessed with continued passion and appreciation for the land and people of Israel.
